After 3 years of touring, recording, and driving in vans, Wartime Blues have begun a hiatus. No ill will involved, just time for different projects and new creative outlets. We have a mixed album on our hands which we will release at a celebration show in September TBA. We’re pretty sure it will be a real nice physical release, 300 copies only. To everyone who invested in the album on Kickstarter, you WILL receive a copy of this album along with the other gifts you’re entitled to, promise! Thank you all for coming out and supporting Wartime these past years, and we look forward to seeing you in September.

New Album Due Out Late Summer

Hey folks,

Mark your calenders- Wartime’s new album will come out in late August. We finished recording 13 songs last week, on an unseasonably warm Missoula Monday. In other news, we’re going to be working on a new and better website with our buddy Ross Carlson.

A Home on the Range (to record)

Wartime Blues is looking for a space January 31^st to February 9^th to record our next album. Preferably, we would like a rural to semi-rural environment such as a cabin or barn within a half an hour of Missoula. We will pay you for allowing us to use your space for this week. Hey folks,

We plan on recording our second LP in Montana (our home state) in the dead of winter with a really great, uber talented engineer out of Chicago by the name of Ryan Boyles. We’re going to drive him out here to Missoula February 1st through the 7th, get him and us into a big cabin in the mountains, and lay down thirteen songs.

In order to do this, we need your help! And here’s the best part… by donating $10 or more, you are guaranteed a signed copy of the new album as soon as it’s released. Think of it as pre-ordering.

Back in Missoula…

Wartime is back in Missoula after a hazy two weeks on the road. Here’s a synopsis: We traveled 36 hours in a big van from Missoula to Madison, stopping for a taste of humidity in South Dakota badlands. Played in my hometown (Waunakee) that evening, watched my mother drink Jeremiah Weed and tell stories about me. Slept like children again, busked in Madison, a city built around the capital and devoid of dirt. Camped in Iowa in the sweat and rain and RV forests, drank wine and whiskey. Bombed in the early morning listening to Christian talk radio to Rock Island and Daytrotter. Recorded new songs with nice people. I have your number Phil, I will call you. Chicago the frenzy heart and itch,mealtime in the barrios ($3.99 Coyote Restaurant breakfast 18th Avenue please support them), more good wise people met.

Bomb down to Louisville and be static. Traded words with a guido seemingly insecure about his sexuality and his thoughts on Midnight Cowboy. Got too drunk on good whiskey with friends and was feeling a little shakey. To St. Louis, a city with an inside joke it won’t let anyone in on. Deep dish pizza, free. Kansas City, Where we could feel the West burning hot and dry over the Missouri river and we longed for it, out of the Green land and into the high lonesome. Denver, you like your mischief! Hi-Dive, Emory the old drunk is on the guest list and has crushes on Sam! Home to Missoula, stop in Wyoming’s Glendo Lake and smell sulpher in the water, eat brats.

Look for us at the Top Hat Saturday, September 4. Look for our Daytrotter Session sometime soon.

We will be doing an all cover set of the Flaming Lips’ Yoshima Battles the Pink Robots Saturday October 30th at the Badlander.
